I love food. I love writing. And neither of these is my profession. My name is La (I will go by the short version here because people from my state in India are notorious for long names!) and I live in Hyderabad , India . I am engineer with a gold medal from my university and never took up an engineering job. That’s because I went on to pursue an MBA from one of India ’s premier educational institutes. I then became a SAP consultant and my brief career with IBM took me to countries on opposite ends of the globe. I got married and chose to give the career a break.
So now I have free time and a large kitchen. Food experiments are the result! And I love food. Did I say that already? I also like to read a lot and of late, the usual mystery fiction books got replaced by online food blogs. There are quite a lot of them online and at this time I really don’t know if I can make mine stand out. At first I wasn’t even sure why I was writing and so it took me nine posts before I had the courage to put up an ‘About me’ page.
I know now why I was willing to start this blog. I have always been keen on telling others what I already know. During college days, my class notes were the most photo copied pages before semester exams and I was always happy to explain to friends anything I knew. Now that I found out how easy it is to bake and cook, I have to tell as many people as I can. That recipes are not gospel, that you don’t have to follow them absolutely to get good results, that recipes are just guidelines and everyone can be a great cook. Till date, I have never followed a recipe in its entirety as there always are missing ingredients. But most of the times missing ingredients won’t make that much of a difference. Like vanilla essence in a chocolate cake or even orange zest for an orange cake. It will still make a great cake – better than a store bought one. So, go ahead, try out a recipe even when you don’t have some of the ingredients or equipment suggested. Use replacements and more often than not, you will surprise yourself pleasantly.
Most of the recipes i post here will serve two people. Some are creations in our home kitchen put together whimsically by the husband and me. And when they are adapted or inspired from somewhere else i will provide the source credit.

At least I agree with your statement: 'telling others what I already know' - reading Fountain Head was the result, which by the way I have probably read 5 - 6 times over again till now (apart from John Grisham... :-) ). Is there some kind of RSS feeds or someway of getting an update automatically. Superb stuff for sure, actually wouldn't have expected anything less from you anyways.

ReplyDeleteJust wanted to tell ya that first recipe I tried was the Strawberry Icecream (simply because it needs little effort). It was just fab and I sneakily wolfed down most of it before sharing it with the husband :) On popular demand, I had to remake it until strawberries went out of season.
I am not a fan of cooking, but love good food. Its getting difficult to go to restaurants and I am more than tempted to try the delicious assortment.
I love the writing style and the pictures. Awesome clicks and presentation. Please do keep posting some recipes for lazy folks like myself. Good luck with the blog. I as usual, join your fan following :-*
